HYBRID SERVO CONTROLLED AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATORS
INTRODUCTION The conventional Servo Voltage Stabilizers are of two types:-
1. Balanced load type meant for three phase loads. 2. Unbalanced load type meant for single phase loads on a three phase system.
The Hybrid type Voltage Regulator is suitable for both single phase as well as three phase loads i.e. Balanced load as well as Unbalanced load,
CONSTRUCTION Hybrid type Voltage Regulator is built on 3 limbed core construction. First the Transformer is wound with a fixed winding designed for the minimum voltage. On this a variable transformer is wound to provide the buck and boost effect. All the three phases have a magnetic inter linkage due to 3 limbed core construction. This construction is similar to a normal LT Distribution Transformer which feeds both balanced and unbalanced load without any problems. Similar function is achieved in this voltage stabilizer also. Sensing of output voltage is done on two phases and any un reasonable drop in any of the phases due to sudden loading is immediately taken care of by the other two phases because of the magnetic linkage. This provides great advantage of maintaining constant output voltage in spite of fluctuating single phase or three phase loads.
ADVANTAGES: The major advantages are; i) Reduction in size ii) Increased efficiency of the Transformer iii) Reduced losses both on no load as well as full load iv) Lesser oil quantity v) Economical in price.
SIZES AVAILABLE These units are available from 100 KVA to 500 KVA and can be designed for very low input voltages for certain specific areas. For a three phase input voltage range of 150-440 V, 50 KVA to 150 KVA can be manufactured. Due to continued product development the specifications are features mentioned here are subject to change without any notice |
